2FA (two-factor authentication) is important because it adds an extra layer of security to your accounts.
Even if someone knows your password, they can't log in without a second verification step, like a code sent to your phone.
This helps protect against hacking, phishing, and data breaches, keeping your information safe.
To Enable 2FA for your MyDreamIT account, please follow the steps below:
1. Log into your MyDreamIT Dashboard.
You can follow this link here to log into your Dashboard: https://my.dreamithost.com.au/login
2. On the top right-hand corner, click on your name.
3. In the drop-down selection, select Security Settings.
4. click the Two Factor Authentication tab, and click the button that says Click here to Enable.
5. You will now be presented with the option to choose the Time-Based Tokens or the Email Two Factor Authentication method. Select your preferred method and click Get Started.
Time-Based Tokens - Allows you to retrieve a security code from your application on your device/phone which you will be required to enter to log into your account.
Email Authentication - This sends you a unique code to your email address on file each time you log in, which you will be required to enter to log into your account.
Note: For time-based token authentication, you will require an application on your mobile device such as Google Authenticator or Duo Security.
For Email Two-Factor Authentication, please follow the below steps.
1. To activate the email authentication, you will need to provide an authorization code. Continue below.
2. An email titled Here's your MyDreamIT Login code will be sent to your email address on file.
Access the email and retrieve the code, ensure to check your junk/spam folder if you can not find the email in your inbox.
The email will look like the one below.
3. Enter the code into the requested field and click Activate
4. Your two-factor authentication has been configured. You will need to access the App for the code each time you log into your MyDreamIT Dashboard.
You will need to write down the Backup Code in case you are not able to complete your Two Factor Authentication in the future.
