A Change of Registrant is necessary when you need to update or transfer the Australian Business Number (ABN) or Australian Company Number (ACN), or change the ownership of a domain. This guide will walk you through the key considerations and steps involved in the process.

Key Considerations:
- A Change of Registrant may not be able to be initiated due to the ABN/ACN being invalid/expired/cancelled.
- Changing the Australian Business Number or the Australian Company Number Associated with the Domain May Require:
- A letterhead that states the transfer of the old ABN for the domain to the new ABN from the previous owner, dated prior to the change.
- Provide documents that contribute to the proof of sale/acquisition of the company to support the Change of Registrant request.
- A completed Transfer of Domain Chain form. The form can be found here: https://my.dreamithost.com.au/dl.php?type=d&id=4
- A Statutory Declaration to declare that what you state in the Domain Chain form is the truth and that you are who you say you are.
- Registration Period:
- After the Change of Registrant, any whole years remaining on the domain will be retained.
- For example, if there are 2 years and 11 months left on a domain, you keep the 2 years plus get the renewal associated with the Change of Registrant.
- Any partial year (months) will not carry over.
